Is anyone having issues with Windows Defender? I can't turn off Real-time protection on mine. After turning it off it just goes back on afterwards. :( Installed Windows 10 Pro.

      @Stan the Man
If you turn off the Real-time protection in the Windows settings then it gets re-enabled after a computer restart.
Below is the registry key to permanently disable Windows Defender.

      Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender]

Has anyone successfully installed this on Parallels? The Windows XP version installs just fine, but this version gives me errors, saying Windows could not create partition on disk 0 error 0x80042565.

@nocarrier not sure, corrupted download maybe?

@nocarrier hey did you pirate parallels because i don't see any reason why anyone would use parallels when there are foss options available like virualbox, etc

      nocarrier · 8 days ago
@infuscomus No, I downloaded it again to make sure. The problem arises when Parallel's says there are multiple versions to install, which do you want? And it gives me a dropdown box with two blank options. I think it has to do with the ei.cfg. I tried to edit it, but I can't repack the directory properly to get it to run after I make my changes. On a Mac (Intel), you need to use disk utility to compress a folder to a CDR, then you run a utility on the command line "hdiutil makehybrid -iso -joliet -o -FILENAME.iso FILENAME.cdr" I got my iso, but it was garbage and didn't work.

Wait what, you have now problems with Windows XP and Windows 10 on Parallel?
I think it's time to move to VirtualBox.

@Ramsey No. I said the XP version was just fine, zero issues.

the windows 10 ISO works differently, I'm not sure about a mac but in linux you can build it like this -

      mkisofs \
      -no-emul-boot \
      -b boot/etfsboot.com \
      -boot-load-seg 0x07C0 \
      -boot-load-size 8 \
      -iso-level 2 \
      -udf \
      -joliet \
      -D \
      -N \
      -relaxed-filenames \
      -o win10-1511-32bit-mod1.iso \

Windows 11 ISO available for download now - 5.1GB

It seems that the TPM and secure boot is not strictly enforced and the files needed to boot in legacy CSM mode are all still there.

@infuscumus Looks like the TPM/SecureBoot is only checked if you do an upgrade.

I forgot to clarify, you still need to use the already known about registry hacks to install.
But other than that Microsoft did not put any additional roadblocks in place for the RTM release to stop you from installing.

Ramsey, for some reason this ISO is too large. it will not fit on a regular DVD. looks like you're going to need to trim it down. it has to be able to fit on a DVD-R disc.... right now its showing the the file size is 4.8GB instead of the 4.7 that is the max for a DVD....

      Ramsey · 16 days ago
This will not work without removing some Windows 10 Editions from the ISO file.
And the ISO file size in Windows is also displayed in Gibibytes (GIB / binary) and a DVD disc size is calculated in Gigabytes (GB / decimal). So a 4.7GB (decimal) DVD is 4.37GIB (binary) of storage in Windows.

most people nowadays would flash the ISO to a USB with a tool like etcher.

personally I use a zalman ve-500 to store bootable ISOs on an SSD and use the inbuilt controls to select and boot them.

@Ramsey well, you try to burn it onto a DVD and see what happens. you just might have to drop some of you add-ons...

@babybearjs just put it on a USB that'll solve your problem.

@Ramsey how did you even make such a big iso file?? i.e. which software/technique did you use??

@guy Microsoft has a tool called DISM to do that.

Shoot, after installing I realize it's Enterprise, not 10 Pro. This is so not what I wanted. Apparently it is possible to downgrade to 10 Pro. Can someone please describe the process? The info I found online instructs you to use a proper 10 Pro key, which I obviously don't have nor would I ever buy. I hate the interface. For one it doesn't have Sleep in the power options (tried several fixes, none worked). Pretty sure I had 10 Pro selected when I did the install. Sure hope I won't have to do another fresh install. Already spent so much time setting everything up. On a side note: why in the world does M$ see the need to have 16 versions of the same thing??

@Jooz Simply use one of this Keys after you activate your Windows 10 with the KMS Activator.
      Windows 10 Pro > W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX
      Windows 10 Pro Workstations > NRG8B-VKK3Q-CXVCJ-9G2XF-6Q84J
      Windows 10 Pro Education > 6TP4R-GNPTD-KYYHQ-7B7DP-J447Y
      Windows 10 Education > NW6C2-QMPVW-D7KKK-3GKT6-VCFB2
      Windows 10 Enterprise > NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43

@Jooz Hah, the problem with the missing Sleep option was due to a BIOS setting. It's all good now. I was also able to revert to 10 Pro. I suspect the reason why it went to Enterprise in the first place may have been due to a serial from the Activator I used. I couldn't find a match after a few tries so it may have tried one for Enterprise. But all good now, this superb installer is flawless. Aside from self-inflicted damages caused by user error, that is. Thanks all.
