(#) How to do a fresh Windows 10 installation:

1. Burn the Windows 10 ISO file on a DVD disc by using a Brun program like CDBurnerXP (http://cdburnerxp.se) or use Rufus (http://rufus.ie) to create a bootable USB Flash Drive with the Windows 10 ISO file.
2. Do a BACKUP of your important files on a separate Drive.
3. To avoid accidentally creating a Windows 10 Online Account or running into the Account bug (Other user), disconnect your Computer from the Internet before you install.
4. At the Windows 10 Setup menu select "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)".
5. Delete all the old Windows Partitions and then click on install (Be very careful to select the correct hard disk drive).

      @RTSFG What did you choose when you made the USB stick? GPT or MBR? What motherboard do you have?

      @reggie I ran into a similar problem once, after a printer software update. I fixed it by simply reinstall the printer software.

    Hi can I use this to update my windows or I need a clean install to use this?

    I know you will most likely start providing Win 11. Would it be possible to continue providing Win 10 updated distro till the expiration date (2025?)

      @EZE The only point i see to keep Windows 10 is because of the 32-bit (x86) version.

      @Ramsey I recently 'upgraded' to windows 11 officially on my fairly modern HP computer with Ryzen 3 3200g processor and 8 GB of Ram. It cooked my Bios Chip after an update. Luckily for me the PC is under warranty yet and they had to replace the motherboard!
      A clean install does not seem to be a problem though as i had done it earlier without any problem(Of course it was an older version of 11 so maybe the new one is a bomb)
      i think you ought to keep windows 10 going till they make 11 really stable. And there is the 32 bit version support as well. Cant thank you enough for your work👍

      @Sachin Marathe If it wasn't stable why release it from Beta to Stable release, Release to manufacturing (RTM) & Release to the Web (RTW). 32-bit days are LONG gone 🙄 👍

      @DanTMan64 i dont know why they went to stable release but i know for sure it messed up my bios, which it should not be able to do technically. HP is clueless too so they just replaced my motherboard. i guess i made myself pretty clear. i would agree to 32 bit support not being essential these days since even the older computers support 64 bit.

    Ramsey, how are you suppose to burn this onto a flash drive? I tried to use Rufus and it kept crashing... then I opend the ISO and selected "all" and tried to copy it directly on the flash drive only to run into "administator Privilge" and the copy failed... for some reason windows 10 seems to be protected from outside and even though I'm the administator, somethinmg, or someone has control from outside... any help here? this is where I want certain security protocols to be in place... this is one of the main reasons I hate having an "Online" world...

    Is anyone having issues with Windows Defender? I can't turn off Real-time protection on mine. After turning it off it just goes back on afterwards. :( Installed Windows 10 Pro.

      @Stan the Man
      If you turn off the Real-time protection in the Windows settings then it gets re-enabled after a computer restart.
      Below is the registry key to permanently disable Windows Defender.

      Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender]
      "DisableAntiSpyware"=dword:00000001

      @Ramsey Hello, late reply sorry.

      The issue I am facing is different I guess. If I try to turn it off for example it would just turn on immediately (after clicking yes on the admin prompt) so it's just permanently on. I tried using the registry key and it still doesn't work sadly. Decided to wait and do a fresh install with the new release and it's still having that error. Still, thanks for the release mate.

      I guess the only thing that I'm doing differently is that I use an offline account rather than using a Microsoft Account so I'll give the online account option a try later.

    Has anyone successfully installed this on Parallels? The Windows XP version installs just fine, but this version gives me errors, saying Windows could not create partition on disk 0 error 0x80042565.

      @nocarrier hey did you pirate parallels because i don't see any reason why anyone would use parallels when there are foss options available like virualbox, etc
    • This commment is unpublished.
      nocarrier · 2 years ago
      @infuscomus No, I downloaded it again to make sure. The problem arises when Parallel's says there are multiple versions to install, which do you want? And it gives me a dropdown box with two blank options. I think it has to do with the ei.cfg. I tried to edit it, but I can't repack the directory properly to get it to run after I make my changes. On a Mac (Intel), you need to use disk utility to compress a folder to a CDR, then you run a utility on the command line "hdiutil makehybrid -iso -joliet -o -FILENAME.iso FILENAME.cdr" I got my iso, but it was garbage and didn't work.

      @nocarrier
      Wait what, you have now problems with Windows XP and Windows 10 on Parallel?
      I think it's time to move to VirtualBox.
